The lady of the comets

Amalia Finzi occasionally appears in my life. The first time was in 2006 at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo where we were both "special guests" (she for real, me as a fictional theater) in an international meeting and since then every time we meet is a party!

Amalia Ercoli-Finzi is 82 years old and has had five children and six grandchildren. She was the first woman in Italy to graduate in aeronautical engineering with 100 cum laude at the Politecnico di Milano, with which she continues to collaborate by studying how to land a human crew on Mars and how to build a botanical garden on the Moon.

She is one of the leading international experts in aerospace engineering, scientific advisor to NASA, ASI and ESA.

He participated, inter alia, like Principal Investigator responsible for the SD2 instrument on the Rosetta space probe, which landed on comet 67P as part of the European mission that lasted several years and ended in 2016. "The lady of the comets" is the title of a novel by Tommaso Tirelli inspired by life and work by Amalia Finzi.
