I don't have much to say about Arrogance. It is very common these days; it is talked about and discussed extensively. It is the attitude of those who want their personal power to prevail at the expense of the freedom of others, often making them believe they are working for the common good.
I contrasted Arrogance with Sacrifice which, on closer inspection, is the exact opposite. In fact this word, which is often associated with the reductive concept of mortification, has an etymology that derives from the Latin Sacrum-Facere and that is to make things sacred, to give a high meaning to our actions, contributing to the common good.
This is the subject treated in a hyperbolic way in a funny jest that I recite in “grammelot”, the onomatopoeic language used by the ancient jesters. Under their caricatural and desecrating way of expressing themselves there is the desire to bring to the surface and unmask defects and deadly sins, making people think but also entertain. By contrast and thanks to the lever of a healthy irony and humor, the Sacrum-Facere in the end emerges even more.
Boniface VIII, jested in grammelot by Dario Fo interpreted by Gianni Ferrario, find out more on the official website " https://www.gianniferrario.com/teatro/
